Robert Nicholas Young (1900-1964) was born in Washington, D.C., was a graduate of the University of Maryland in 1922 and was commissioned in the infantry in 1923. From 1925 to 1928, Young served with the 65th Infantry in Puerto Rico, and from 1928 to 1932, he was an assistant professor of military science and tactics at the University of Maryland.
